Injury involving property security
An incident involving crime at a property may lead to a police investigation and separate questions about the property’s condition or security arrangements. These processes have different purposes. Describe what you personally observed about access, lighting or security and separate that from assumptions about earlier events. A crime occurring at a location does not by itself settle every question about a property owner’s responsibility.
- Property address, business name and police report reference
- Factual observations about access, lighting and security
- Witnesses, available communications and injury records
Location to identify: The place of the collision, fall or other event; the report number and issuing organization; and where any lawsuit was filed.
Ask a lawyer: Which property-control and security facts should be evaluated alongside the incident investigation?
